About
Dr. Dutson is a Health Sciences Clinical Professor in the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and is the Surgical Director of the Center for Obesity and Metabolic Health (COMET) at UCLA, and has been a part of the multidisciplinary approach to the clinical management of obesity at UCLA since 2003. He is an international thought leader and has been invited for scientific presentations of his work as well as operative demonstrations of his techniques across the globe. He has been actively involved in the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the American College of Surgeons and the Society for American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, where he serves on several committees and presents research on a regular basis. Dr. Dutson has published a large number of peer-reviewed manuscripts and chapters on competitively funded projects related to obesity mechanisms and outcomes of obesity surgery as related to the central nervous system, cardiovascular system, solid organ transplantation, NASH/NAFLD, sexual/reproductive function, and joint function, among others.
